Dr. Wisnousky, DO



Dr. Wisnousky’s EMS career began in high school where he became an EMT-B.  After high school, he completed the Mercy – St. Luke’s Paramedic program to become an NREMT-P. Dr. Wisnousky was then hired by AAS as a paramedic in March of 1984.  He worked at Area for 9 years while completing a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology at Coe College.

Dr. Wisnousky was then accepted to Des Moines University in July of 1993. He completed medical school then fulfilled his residency requirements for emergency medicine at the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine in Peoria. Upon the conclusion of his residency, he was hired by Linn County Emergency Medicine at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Dr. Wisnousky became the Medical Director at Area Ambulance Service in 2003. He can be found in the office and responding to calls as AAS provides an EMS vehicle, A-200, for him in order to provide on-going direct supervision to crews in the field.

Dr. Wisnousky was appointed the Medical Director for the Cedar Rapids Fire Department in 2006 after the tragic loss of esteemed colleague, Dr. Wm. Moothart. He is also the Medical Director for several EMS services in Linn, Benton and Buchanan counties. His extensive background in the field combined with the oversight provided to various EMS agencies creates a higher standard of unified patient care throughout our response area.
